LMG TV-Maa (d/b/a Latvia Media Group, previously known as LTVG International) is an independent broadcaster. It is broadcasting programming on Latvia 1 on television from 5:50AM to midnight and on LatviaFM on the radio 24 hours a day (except in select situations). Company broadcasts it's television services on channel 12 on the digital television platform. Company also maintains an emergency alert system - National Emergency System. HD broadcasts on Latvia 1 (back then known as LTVG) began in 2010, once the company's separate High Definition channel LTVG HD ceased operation.

History[muokkaa | muokkaa wikitekstiä]

Latvia Media Group started it's operations in 1980 in Lootala, with the launch of LTR, an independent radio network.

On April 10th 1990, company launched the first television channel - legally known as the First Program of LTVG Media (colloquially known as LTVG First) on analogue channel 17 in PAL B/G, transmitting from Silver Rad broadcasting tower. Not much photographically has been saved from that launch, as the network was unknown by most people.

By February of 1995, the channel had expanded into Alivieska (broadcasting from Peräjärvi Broadcasting Tower) and to Jacklin, thus covering the entirety of Sisämaa. In May of the same year, the channel started operations via satellite Senocera 1, as such coverage could be expanded to much further than Sisämaa, and eventually, by 1997, the whole country had the channel available.

On January 1st 1997, the organization relaunched LTR as it's first FM radio channel - back then known as LTVG OneFM, which brought out JRock and Iskelmä music to the masses. Full coverage of OneFM was reached by the year 2000 (last region to get the station was Meelanti Island).

As a part of the first full redesign of the network in 2005 - LTVG First became LTVG, and the radio station became LTVG Radio 1.

No much changed since then and 2023, except the launch of the second radio station - LTVG Radio 2 in 2020. Another redesign would come in 2023, when LTVG became Latvia 1, LTVG Radio 1 became LatviaFM, and LTVG Radio 2 became LatviaFM+.
